Who are you and what do you do?
I’m an Accountant (right now unemployed). I am a Civil War Buff, avid reader and historian, also a workout geek (getting to the gym 4-5 times a week). I combine my artistic and Civil War Buff sides in my images. I also enjoy gardening and taking long walks.
When and why did you become an artist/designer?
I started designing back in the mid-1990s. Then I had a small name & address labels business by mail order. I also made bookmarks, book plates, stationery, etc. Again, it was mainly Civil War stuff. I graduated up to the POD market in 2004.
What type of media do you create in – photography, digital, mixed media?
Mixed.
Who is your intended audience?
Anyone who enjoys the US Civil War in history. Whether there is a special battle, personality or side (Union or Confederate), I have something for pretty much everyone.
Where do you get inspiration?
When reading about anything Civil War! Or possibly visiting a battlefield or watching a Civil War-related movie.
What is your preferred subject and why:
Civil War. I’m an avid Buff. I’ve visited many of the Civil War Battlefields in the eastern US. I used to take my two week-long vacations and drive to the battlefields. Had some great times.
What artwork of yours is your favorite and why?
Hard to say. I’m always coming up with new designs and just when I think I have a favorite…another one takes its place!
What advice would you give a new artist/designer beginning their POD adventure?
Just enjoy what topics you design for. I can’t imagine devoting hours of time to creating images if I didn’t have an interest in it.
Do you have an online portfolio, shop or a blog where we can view your work?
My images in Cafepress can be viewed at:
I am also on ZAZZLE and Skreened but have few images so far on each site.
And for fun, if you could; what superpower would you have and why?
I would love to be able to pop in and out like I Dream of Jeannie! Then I could pop over to all the various Civil War Battlefields that I never could visit!
