Google Chrome is a cross-platform web browser developed by Google available in most operating systems (i.e. Microsoft Windows, Android, Linux, macOS, iOS, etc.).
Chrome has lots of exciting features so that its users can easily access their data on multiple devices very easily, and one out of them is the Google Chrome sync feature. Using this feature user can easily access their data on multiple devices using Chrome browser and can synchronize their account data which include information like history, passwords, bookmarks, extensions, and other details are available across multiple devices. Be it on any supported Operating System Device.
This feature makes it easy to access your data or bookmarks without the need for the original device. Like if you have saved any bookmark on your PC and you want to access the same from your Android Device, it will directly appear under the Bookmark option if sync is enabled. However, lots of users are complaining that the Bookmarks syncing feature is not working and the majority of Windows users are facing this problem.
So here to help all those users I am mentioning some of the fixes below to solve the bookmarks not syncing issue on Chrome.
Restart your Devices:-
If you have bookmarked any website on your PC and even after enabling sync option that synced bookmark is not reflecting on your other devices then restart the device in which problem is occurring and even restart the original device in which you have saved your bookmark.
To check whether Sync is enabled:-
When you sign in into Chrome one another/multiple devices by your Gmail id, it syncs all the user data. But sometimes sync option is turned off for bookmarks and due to this reason, your bookmarks don’t appear on another connected. To check whether sync is enabled or disabled, follow these steps: Read more- Pimpandhost internet archive Wayback
Step 1: Open your chrome application with internet/ Wi-Fi connection enabled.
Step 2: Then tap on the three-dot icon in the Chrome app. In Android devices, it is present at the top towards the right side, and in iOS, you will find it in the bottom towards the right side. Select setting options in that menu bar appeared.
Step 3: Tap on your name linked with your mail address at the top.
Step 4: After entering into next screen Tap on “Sync and Google services”
Step 5: Then in the next window verify that Bookmarks sync is enabled or disabled.
Step 1: Open Chrome browser in your PC with internet supply enabled.
Step 2: Then click on the three-dot icon at the top towards the right corner and select the Settings option in that menu bar.
Step 3: Then check the option next to your whether it is showing “Turn off” or “Turn on”. If it is “Turn off” then it indicates that sync is ON. And if it says “Turn On” then tap on that option to enable sync.
Step 4: Then click on the option below your name i.e. “Sync and Google services” and on that page click on the manage sync option.
Step 5: Then on the next screen just verify that either Bookmarks option is enabled or not. If not then click on the bookmarks option to enable it.
Force Chrome to Sync:-
To force the chrome to re-sync the bookmarks you just have to follow the above-mentioned steps for PC and Mobile apps. However, In the last-mentioned step, disable the Bookmarks sync option and wait for some time or a couple of minutes and then turn it on. Doing this will force the browser to re-sync the bookmarks (If the bookmarks are already disabled then enable it by clicking the toggle next to Bookmarks option to Sync everything.)
Verify Whether the device sync is enabled or not:-
Sometimes your device sync is disabled with the Gmail id linked to it. Due to this reason also user data doesn’t get synchronized. To resolve this problem steps are mentioned below. This step is for an android device only.
Step 1: Open your device settings and tap on the “Accounts” option.
Step 2: Then tap on the Google account linked with your account signed in into your PC. Then tap on “Account sync” option.
Step 3: Then tap on the Chrome option if “Sync is off” and if it is already enabled then double-tap on the chrome menu to turn it Off and then On again.
Clearing Cache and Cookies:-
Cache and cookies get stored in your chrome when you visit different websites. Even you have observed that when you open any new website an option appears below to Accept or Deny cache and cookies. A cookie is used to store information to track different characteristics related to the user while on other hand cache speeds up the loading of web pages.
The cache slows down your systems and application functioning speed due to the memory it acquires.
So here some steps mentioned below to erase cache files.
Step 1: Open Chrome browser with good internet connectivity and then on the upper right side click on the three dots icon.
Step 2: Click on the settings option and in Settings, scroll down and then click on Advanced.
Step 3: Then click on the option ”Clear browsing data” Then a mini window will appear on that click on Clear data option.
Step 1: Open Chrome application with good internet connectivity and then on the upper right side click on the three dots icon.
Step 2: Then tap on the Settings option and scroll down till Advanced Column and then tap on “Privacy”.
Step 3: Tap on the “Clear Browsing Data” option and then a new window will get opened in which you have to select Cookies and Cache option.
That’s it. I wish that all the above-mentioned steps will you in sorting out your problems of “Chrome Bookmarks Not Syncing”.
